A practical map of the seed wholesale catalogue
A useful seed request starts with the catalogue structure and ends with a clear, non-binding enquiry. Understanding how crop groups, species, varieties and the enquiry basket work together helps retailers identify the correct seed reference, compare quantities consistently and provide the information needed for a quotation.
Start with the crop group
The catalogue is organised by broad crop groups such as vegetables, flowers, herbs, and microgreens and sprouts. Each group leads to more specific collections, such as cabbage and kale, peppers, mint or thyme. Use this level to narrow the search to the type of seed you want before comparing individual listings. Crop groups are useful for browsing, but they do not by themselves identify a product, price or quantity.
Use the species to distinguish selections
Within a crop group, catalogue entries are arranged by species or botanical group. For example, mint is separated into Mentha spicata, Mentha longifolia, Mentha piperita and Mentha pulegium, while peppers include Capsicum baccatum and Capsicum chinense. These names help prevent different seeds from being treated as interchangeable. When a listing uses a broad botanical label, check the individual entry and preserve any leaf-type, cultivar or selection qualifier.
Record the variety and SKU together
A variety is the specific selection that appears below a species or group, and the SKU identifies the individual catalogue reference for that selection. Keep the full variety name with the SKU when building a request. This is especially important where common names overlap or where several selections share a species. For example, thyme selections with seasonal names should not be treated as a universal sowing calendar, and a category such as Capsicum does not establish sweetness, heat level or any other cultivar characteristic.
Compare quantities using the recorded unit
Catalogue pages may display quantities in different ways. A price per kilogram and a price for a stated number of seeds are separate bases of comparison, so include the unit whenever you compare or request a product. For each selection, note the SKU, required quantity and unit, plus any pack size needed for resale. The catalogue description and listed price do not confirm current stock, batch-specific results, taxes, shipping or delivery arrangements; those details are confirmed separately in the quotation.
Move the request to the enquiry basket
Add the selected varieties to the enquiry basket, then check that each line contains the intended variety, SKU, quantity and unit. Include your business name, contact details and destination so the requested items can be reviewed. Adding items or submitting the form does not create a purchase contract. An automated acknowledgement only confirms receipt of the enquiry; availability, final prices, pack sizes, taxes, shipping, payment terms and delivery arrangements are specified in the quotation and subsequent agreement.
